      The Frog's Blog

Hi friends. This blog is a labor of love and I want to continue writing every day for a long time to come. But I need a little help. The fees to maintain this website are getting costly for a little frog. If you enjoy reading my blogs, will you please donate a dollar or two, or whatever you can, to help me keep this site (and blog) up and running? I'm on PayPal at irwinquagmirewart@gmail.com. Thank you!

Last month, I started a new feature...Days in ----to Celebrate! This will be an on-going, monthly event where I will share with you a few of the special things worth celebrating each month. Everyone knows I love a good party. And life offers us so many fabulous reasons to celebrate each day, but if you're looking for a more, check back here, towards the beginning of each new month, and I'll list a few extra days worth celebrating.
May's Calendar:
st  Law day; National Loyalty Day; National Mother Goose Day; and National Lemonade Day (1st Sunday in May each year) Even though we've missed them, there's never a wrong time to celebrate lemonade and Mother Goose!

nd National Truffle Day. What more can I say but YUMMY!
rd National Chocolate Custard Day; National Lumpy Rug Day (?); National Specially-abled Pets Day - this is a day set aside to teach awareness of how to car for disabled pets. Now this is something I can truly support; National Two-different Colored Shoes Day (a great day for those of us who get dressed in the dark...); and MY personal favorite, National Teacher Appreciation Day. Let's remember to to be grateful and appreciative for all the teachers out there. They do great work!
th Bird Day; National Orange Juice Day; National Weather Observer's Day; and National Star Wars Day. Yep, you read right, Star Wars has a special day!
th  National Atronaut Day; World password Day; National Cartoonist Day (Hey guys, thanks for making us laught!); National Day of Prayer; and, of course, Cinco de Mayo!
th  National Beverage Day, National Crepe Suzette Day (I can dig this); National Nurses Day (These special people never get nearly even credit, or appreciation, for all that they do in keeping us well); National Space Day (first Friday in May); National Provider Day (Friday before Mother's Day) This is a day set aside to honor child care provisers, teachers, and other educators who help care for children
th  Join Hands Day (This awesome day is
set aside to help bring together the older and younger generations living in your neighborhood); National Scrapbook Day (1st Saturday in May); National Start Seeing Monarchs Day (as in butterflies, not royalty); National Train Day
th  National Coconut Cream Pie Day; National Have a Coke Day; and, of course, Mother's Day...the second Sunday in May
th  National Butterscotch Brownie Day; National Lost Sock Day (not applicable for me, but if you need a day to look for all your lost socks, this is for you!); and National Women's Check-Up Day (2nd Monday in May)
th National Shrimp Day - As there isn't much already scheduled for this day, feel free to add your own special thing to celebrate.
th National Twilight Zone Day; National School Nurse Day; National Receptionists Day (the unsung heroes in every office)
th National Fibromyalgia Day; National Limmerick Day; National Odometer Day

th National Crouton Day; National Blame Somebody Else Day (the first Friday the 13th of each year); and one of my favorite days National Frog Jumping Day!This day honors a frog named Dan'l Webster in the Mark Twain classic "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" This day spawned, pardon my pun, the annual Frog Jumping Contest in Calaveras County back in 1849. The International counterpart of this day is celebrated on February 19th.
th National Dance Like a Chicken Day; national Miniature Golf Day, and Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day (2nd Saturday in May) All very good reason to celebrate!
th National Chocolate Chip Day; National Peace Officers Day
th National Biographer's Day; National Coquilles St. Jacques Day (this is a fabulous day to celebrate if you LOVE scallops!) and National Sea Monkey Day.

th national Cherry Cobbler Day; National Honor Our LBGT Elders Day; national pack Rat Day; National Walnut Day
th national Cheese Souffle Day; National No Dirty Dishes Day; and, are you ready for this, National Visit Your Relatives Day (I thought that was Christmas...)
th National Devil's Food Cake Day; National May Ray Day...this is a day set aside to be outside and soaking up some wonderful May sunshine (catchin' a few rays..) Just don't forget your sunblock!
th National Be a Millionaire Day; National Pick a Strawberry Day; national Pizza Party Day (3rd Friday in May) and another very special day, National Endangered Species Day (also the 3rd Friday in May). This is a great day to educate yourself, and others, on all the beautiful species of animals that are in danger of becoming lost forever. See what help you can offer to protect those of us whose lives are threatened.
st National Red Cross Founder's Day; National Memo Day; and National Learn How to Swim Day (again, not applicable to me, but learning to swim is muy importante!)
nd National Buy a Musical Instrument Day; National Vanilla Pudding Day
rd National Lucky Penny Day; National Taffy Day
th National Escargot Day (not a good day for snails...) and National Scavenger Hunt Day
th national Brown-Bag It Day; National Tap Dance Day; National Missing Children Day. Honestly, I thing missing kids ought to be on our minds every day and not just on May 25th
th National Red Nose Day - This is one of my favorite days. I have my red nose and i proudly wear it each year. All the money raised each year, from the sale of Red Noses, will go to charities working on the ground to deliver basic needs to children living in poverty. This day is celebrated all over the world, although other countries do so on different days throughout the year.
th National Cellophane Tape Day; National Grape Popsicle Day
th National Brisket Day; National Hamburger Day
th National Paperclip Day...gotta keep those papers neat!
th National Hole in My Bucket Day; National Water a Flower Day (April showers bring May flowers so now we gotta water them!); National Memorial Day
st National Macaroon Day; National Speak in Sentences Day (no grunting or single word answers allowed)
I hope I've given you plenty of ideas for wonderful things to celebrate this May. Whatever days you decide are worthy of a little party, enjoy them!
