Have you ever thought what your life would be like if you were born as someone else? What if you were homeless and wondered where your next meal was coming from. Suppose you could get your children the medical attention they needed or couldn't afford to buy clothing or shoes for you and your family. There are so many humans (and a quite a few frogs, too) who struggle every day just to exist. None of us had a say in how or where we were born...or to whom. We didn't get the opportunity to choose our destiny. If you're like me, then you were fortunate to be raised with financial advantages and in a stable home. But that's not true for all of us. Every religion calls on its followers to give to those less fortunate. And when we do, we become better people and better frogs. Compassion and generosity are both examples of virtues that we we all share. Many celebrities these days are not only known for their work in the entertainment field, but also for their generous support of good causes. Yet you needn't be rich or famous to lend a helping hand. Offering someone a kind word or a smile might be all it takes to enrich the life of a stranger.
Whether we chose to buy a meal for someone, donate money, volunteer our time, or bring flowers to a shut-in, giving away something will have a positive impact on the recipient...as well as on the giver. Tomorrow, you might want consider buying a cup of coffee for the person behind you in line. Or, like me, you might want to spend the day cleaning out your closets and garage, then donating those items you no longer need or use. And don't forget to support you local food bank or food pantry. After I finish with my closets, I plan on catching a few extra bugs tomorrow and giving them to a hungry frog. Please remember to post #GiveSomethingAwayDay on all your social media, too.
Happy weekend everyone and Happy Give Something Away Day. Be kind to one another, be generous to less fortunate, and I hope to see you all back here on Monday!
