In recent years, scientists have found all sorts of ways to extend human life, allowing you folks to live long, healthier, and happier lives. But a great deal of aging begins in the mind. And that is something we can control. What we think has been proven to affect not only our health, but also the way we look. To a degree, we can control the physical side of aging. Think young, act young and be young. If you look into the mirror and like what you see, looking past the wrinkles and sags, you are seeing the true, ageless you. Inner beauty is what really matters, anyway. When you see it and know it, others will, too.
Living agelessly means, to me, living in present moment awareness, living fully, and living gratefully. Ever notice that when you're fully engaged in doing the things you love, time has a way of standing still? That's living agelessly. We lose ourselves in joy and fullfilment. And we're never too old to find that singular hobby that totally engrosses us. For me, it's writing.
Spending time with the people (and frogs) we love, also helps to keep us young. Mark Twain once said, "wrinkles should merely indicate where the smiles have been." Boy Howdy was he right! Happiness is not only physically good for us, but it's also good for the brain and for the spirit.
Living gratefully for all that we have is another way to live agelessly. Take a close look at those people who live zestfully and radiate true joy for the life they have. They don't appear to be old, do they? They appear to us as ageless. Giving back to others has been proven to slow the aging process. When you're busy helping out those who are less fortunate...humans or us animals...you forget about yourself, your aches and pains fade into the background. You become happier with yourself and your life. Helping others, helps you as much, if not more.
If you've gained a few unwated pounds with the years (and haven't we all), or had to get stronger presciption glasses, or can't do ALL the things you used to, so what? If you enjoy your life, right now, right here, just as it is, you will not only feel better, but you'll look better, as well. That is the art of ageless living.
