A mantra is a word or sound that is used to help one concentrate during meditation. Some of you may know it as a positive affirmation. It’s simply put, it’s something we say or think to ourselves that is positive and uplifting. In addition to helping with meditation, a mantra or affirmation can help us to change bad habits and to reduce stress. Here are four simple mantras that you can use anytime, anyplace.
- “With every breath I feel myself relaxing.” It can be helpful to visualize your tension and stress melting away as you repeat this mantra. This mantra is especially useful to repeat when you’re feeling overwhelmed by my your daily schedule, when you’re sitting in traffic, or when you’re standing in an endless line or Q.
- “I have control over how I feel and I choose to be at peace.” It can be helpful to place your hand over your heart as you repeat this phrase out loud. It will help to send those peaceful thoughts throughout your entire body.
- “All experiences help me grow.” It’s good to recite this mantra four times and you may do it either out loud or quietly to yourself, whichever bests suits you and/or the situation. This affirmation is useful when you are searching for answers, no matter what life is throwing in your path. Viewing experiences, both good and bad, as opportunities for growth, can be most helpful when traveling down whatever life path you’re on.
- “I give myself permission to let go of what no longer serves me.” Repeat this affirmation either out loud or to yourself at least five times. You’ll receive added help is you write down on a list all the things that you want to release from your life….nothing is too big or too small. Just list the things that no longer serve you well.
Peace.
