      The Frog's Blog

Hi friends. This blog is a labor of love and I want to continue writing every day for a long time to come. But I need a little help. The fees to maintain this website are getting costly for a little frog. If you enjoy reading my blogs, will you please donate a dollar or two, or whatever you can, to help me keep this site (and blog) up and running? I'm on PayPal at irwinquagmirewart@gmail.com. Thank you!

Time for a little R and R

Friday is here once again. It seems like it was just Monday. Where has the time gone?My normal thing is to make plans for the weekend but this week, I am taking a little "me" time. I'm shutting off the cell phone, unplugging the computer, and turning off the TV. I have an appointment for a massage with Lilly Pad's best masseuse but, other than that, I'm doing nothing. Well, that's not entirely true. I have lots of reading to catch up on and, of course, I need to eat. So I thought I'd treat myself to dinner at the local café. This weekend will be all about me. For those of you who know me, you know I'm not a selfish frog, but every so often we all need time to just chill out. Last weekend, I took my first golf lesson and I may try to hit a few practice balls on Saturday. But, there won't be much else in the way of physical activity!
Relaxation has medical importance, too. Did you know that taking a period of relaxation improves brain function and memory? It does. Making time for R & R also helps to lower your risk of depression, anxiety, heart-attacks, and boosts the immune system. The human body, as well as the frog's, wasn't designed to go full speed  24/7.  It was designed to take regular periods of rest and relaxation.
Recently, I came across a sign that kind of hit home for me. It said, "You do enough. You are enough. You have enough. RELAX." These is a simple but profound truth. I hope you remember this the next time you let your busy schedule interfere with your "me" time. You are important. You can't take care of anyone else or anything else, if you don't first take care of yourself. However you choose to relax this weekend, make sure that you let yourself enjoy the time. No guilty conscious and no cheating by doing just "one more thing." All of your responsibilities will still be there tomorrow.
Now it's time for me to get back to work so that when tomorrow does roll around, I'll be ready to just be. And I'm sooo looking forward it!
See you back here on Monday, all rested and ready for a super new week.
