We frogs are classified as amphibians. So what exactly is an amphibian? The word amphibian means two-lives; able to live in the water and on land. All amphibians are born with gills and a tail and must live in the water. As they get older, they develop lungs which allows to to live on land, too. There are over 400 species of amphibians, which include frogs, turtles, salamanders, and newts. Since frogs love, and need, water, I thought it would be fun to share some tips on how to conserve water. That means saving water.
There are many places in the world where clean water is scarce. There's little water for drinking, cooking, and bathing. Certainly, there's no water for swimming, boating, and other fun activities. Those of us with clean water are very lucky. But we need to take care not to waste the water we have.

Here are some easy ways you can help conserve water:
- When washing your hands, get them wet. Then turn off the water..don't let it keep running. After lathering your hands with soap, turn on the water just long enough to rinse off all the soap. Then dry!
- Do the same thing when brushing your teeth. Turn the water on and get your toothbrusg wet. Turn off the water and apply the toothpaste to the brush. After you've finished brushing your teeth, turn the water back to rinse the toothbrush.
- If you're like me, you love cold water to drink. Instead of letting the water run until it gets cold, try leaving a pitcher of water in the refrigerator. It'll always be nice and cold and you won't waste any water.
- If you have plants at your house, collect the water you use to wash off fruits and vegetable. That makes great water for the plants. You can also put out buckets, or pots and pans, to collect rain water for your house plants. They'll love it and you'll be saving water.
