Our ruler, Prince Charming
Here I am sitting on a rock and enjoying the sun on the northside of Land of Lily Pad. It's a very big pond/swamp!

Holidays in the Land of Lily Pad
New Frog's Day - January 1 This is the day we celebrate a new beginning for each of us. We like to spend it with family and friends. We don't watch football, like many humans do, but we like to watch the exciting game of Leap Frog. We have many teams in Lily Pad and the top two teams compete for the prize of being crowned Super Frogs. Ground Frog's Day - February 2 If the frog comes out from under the lily pad and sees his shadow, it means 6 more weeks of winter. If the frog comes out and doesn't see his shadow, it means it will be an early spring...we'll be swimming in warmer water soon! Lily Pad Day - March 15 This is our national holiday. Everybody has the day off. We roast mosquitoes and crickets on the grill. There is a parades with our very own marching band. We play lots of games and, at night, we have a fireworks display...with real fireflies! It's so beautiful! April Frog's Day - April 1 On this day, we like to play jokes on each other. It's harmless fun and when we get caught in a playful prank, we shout April Frog! We all try to out-do our friends to see who can come up with the cleverest high jiinks. Swamp Sunday - First Sunday in May This marks the first day of summer. School is out and everyone heads to water. It's fun watching the tadpoles learning to swim! Irwin's Birthday - July 14 This is my favorite holiday! Since I've become Lily Pad's first (and only) writer, my birthday is celebrated nationally! There's cake and bug juice for everyone! Mid-Winter Musicians' Day - November 28 As the days get shorter, we celebrate all the wonderful music in our lives. Musicians' Day is a true festival with loads of music, crickets and flies on the grill, and fun games for the tadpoles Frogmas Eve - December 24 The day all the little tadpoles and frogs look forward to all year long. The lily pads are decorated with twinkling lights Frogmas Carols fill the air. Everyone is in a festive mood. At midnight, Santa Frog delivers toys and candied crickets to all the good little tadpoles and young frogs. Frogmas Day - December 25 The little ones have opened their gifts and toys are spread out everywhere! Mama and Papa frog prepare the family feast. After a huge meal, there are candied insects and worms for dessert. Then, it's back to the toys and frog games until bedtime. New Frog's Eve - December 31 The end of the year is a great time for reflection on the year past and a time to look forward to the new year ahead. Every neighborhood has at least one lily pad party. All the frogs get together and celebrate with festive food and sparkling swamp water; we call it Swampagne. At midnight, we toast to the new year. Cheers! |
