The first of every month, I devote my blog to telling you about all the wonderful and usual days for that month; days you might choose to celebrate and throw a party. There's lot of special things going on in August so let's get right to it. Here is my August Calendar of Special Day:
1 - This month starts off with three excellent reasons to celebrate; National Girlfriends Day, National Minority Donor Awareness Day and, my favorite, Respect for Parents Day.
2 - National Coloring Book Day, National Night Out, National Ice Cream Sandwhich Day
3 - National Eatermelon Day, National Grab some Nuts Day (My local squirrels go crazy on this day!)
4 - National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, National Coast Guard Day
5 - National Underwear Day, National Oyster Day
6 - National Disc Golf Day, National Root Beer Float Day (I grew up calling them Brown Cow floats) and National Fresh Breath Day (I know more than a few dogs who need to embrace this concept...I'm just sayin')
7 - Purple Heart Day, National Kids Day, American Family Day, National Friendship Day, National Sisters Day, and National Lighthouse Day (Lot's to celebrate today)
8 - National Happiness Happens Day (Ya gotta love this one), National Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Day,National Dollar Day
9 - National Veep Day, National Rice Pudding Day (yum!) and my personal favorite, National Book Lovers Day
10 - National Lazy Day (I day I can definitely get behind) and National S.mores Day
11 - National Sons and Daughters Day, National Presidential Joke Day (Nope. I'm not gonna make a comment here and you can't make me...) and National Raspberry Bombe Day
12 - National Vinyl Record Day and National Middle Child Day
13 - Left-Handers Day, National Bowling Day, National Garage Sale Day (I love these...don't you?)
14 - National Creamsicle Day. Since there isn't much on schedule for the 14th, why not make up your own holiday on this day?
15 - National Relaxation Day and National Lemon Meringue Pie Day
16 - National Tell a Joke Day (Yippee!), National Rollercoaster Day, national Airborne Day
17 - I Love My Flippers (Feet) Day. This would be a great day to schedule a pedicure, then do a little shopping because it's also National Thrift Shop Day.
18 - National Mail Order Catalog Day (They'll start arriving soon for your early Christmas shopping needs) and national Ice Cream Pie Day
19 - National Aviation Day, National Soft Ice Cream Day (Do you prefer soft or hard ice cream?)
20 - National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day and National Radio Day. (Turn on your favorite station and listen to a few tunes while enjoying a slice of fresh-made chocolate pecan pie!)
21 - National Senior Citizens Day and National Spumoni Day (An Italian ice cream molded into three layer of different flavors, usually containing bits of fruit)
22 - National Tooth Fairy Day, National Pecan Torte Day
23 - National Sponge Cake Day and National Ride With the Wind Day
24 - National Peach Pie Day, National Waffle Day
25 - National Kiss and Make Up Day, National Secondhand Wadrobe Day (You may want to celebrate, especially if you've recently celebrated National Thrift Shop Day and found yourself nice "new" duds!), National Banana Split Day,
26 - Lots of great things to celebrate on this day: National Dog Day, National Women's Equality Day, and National Webmistress Day
27 - National Pots de Creme Day and National "Just Because" Day
Just in case you didn't make up your own special day on the 14th, here are four more pretty empty days that'll give you the opportunity to celebrate yourself, someone you love, or to celebrate something silly that important to you. Go ahead. Add something onto the calendar...you know you want to!
