The harder we work at obtaining our goals and desires, the further away they seem to get. Stuggling against nature seldom worksout. On those rare occaisions when it does, the results are often disappointing at best. There's a law in nature that says we can accomplish more by doing less. Does this mean that we need to simply give up? No. Does it mean that hard work isn't important? Absolutely not. What is does mean is that acceptance of who we are, and where we are in life at this moment, is vital to moving forward with our hopes and dreams.
Take me, for example. Since I was a very young tadpole, I wanted to travel to France. But nothing I did ever seemed to get me there. I wished. I hoped. I even cried. One day, after a particularly disheartening event, I decided to accept my life as it was. Yes, I STILL wanted to see France but if I didn't ever get there, I knew that I'd be okay. I read about books about France. I learned a little French. I watched some French films. I learned to cook a few French meals. I gave myself the experience without ever leaving home. Then I did something extraordinary. I applied for a passport....for no reason at all. I just wanted to have one. When it arrived, I was excited. But I tucked it away, safely in my desk drawer, and forgot about it. Then, a year or so later, an opportunity to travel to Paris came out of the blue! I hadn't done anything magical to make it happen, it just did. And I was prepared. I had my passport, knew some French, and had learned a great deal about the country I longed to visit.
When I stopped struggling and simply accepted my circumstances as they were, things just fell into place. If you're into astrologly, you might say that the "stars aligned." However you choose to see it, the time was right for me to make my first trip. Nature was cooperating. I'm happy to say that the trip was even more fabulous that I had expected and I've been back several times since. When the body/mind experience is in concert with nature, life flows harmoniously.
Today, try accepting all people and circumstances exactly as they are. Take responsibility for your life, but don't blame yourself. Know that everything is just as it should be. Why not make the decision to practice defenselessness, too? Give up the need to try to convince or persuade others. Just accept today as it is, whatever it brings. I believe that if you try this once, you'll see what I mean. Life becomes effortless and, dare I say it, FUN when you "go with the flow." Isn't it is always easier to swim with the current, than against it? And who knows, your deepest desires may be waiting just around the corner...
