We've all heard the old saying, "Good things come in the smallest packages." I know my mom reminds me of this every Christmas, as I gravitate to those BIG, shiney boxes under the tree that are just begging to be unwrapped. But, I can honestly say, that my favorite presents have come in those small, less glamorous boxes that are discreetly nestled among the tree branches. So why am I mentioning this onthe first of October? Because the whole "good thing" concept can applied to any day of the year...not just Christmas and birthdays. Fall is officially here. The days are cooler. The sky is clearer..and the leaves are turning magnificent shades of red, orange, and yellow. This is the perfect time of year to go for a leisurely walk...or hop...through the woods and just enjoy being. You know what I mean; no worries, no cares, no thoughts..just being one with Mother Nature. This brings, at least to me, the greatest joy I know. Those few, precious hours away from it all, when communing with nature, is the only job I have. Why not plan to spend some quality time this weekend visiting with Mother Nature and enjoying the not-so-small gifts that she gives us every day? Unwrap each one slowly and savor the moment. For these are memories, and the presents, that you'll cherish the most. And you just never know what you might see along the way...
