      The Frog's Blog

Hi friends. This blog is a labor of love and I want to continue writing every day for a long time to come. But I need a little help. The fees to maintain this website are getting costly for a little frog. If you enjoy reading my blogs, will you please donate a dollar or two, or whatever you can, to help me keep this site (and blog) up and running? I'm on PayPal at irwinquagmirewart@gmail.com. Thank you!

Listening to the sounds...

Music is a very personal thing. Most people enjoy listening to the croaking of frogs...but not everyone. The same thing can be said for human music. Whether it's classical, hip-hop, reggae, latin, or pop, every style of music has its fans and its detractors. Music is meant to uplift our spirits; to bring emotion to our senses; to transport us to new places. But when you listen to music that you don't like, the opposite happens. It sounds like fingernails on chalkboad to our ears, causing us discomfort and distress. The sounds we love seems to magically link our heart to the heart of the composer. Music is magic.
Quite often our taste in music changes as we age. The head-banging rock of your youth may mellow out to a love of smooth jazz. Sometimes you fall in love with a paticular genre of music and stick with it your whole life. Perhaps you've seen a little old lady bopping to the sounds of classic rock, blaring from her car stero, as she tootles around town. It's heart-warming to see! Age has nothing to do with taste or what we enjoy, when it comes to music...or much else for that matter.
On Friday, I always like to make my weekend plans. This week, I will be attending a concert given by my favorite frog choir; The Roving Ribbiteers. These guys can really carry a tune and are loads of fun to watch. After attending one of their shows, I am happier for days. I find myself quietly humming some of my favorites; there's a bigger bounce in my hop and I smile...wide!
What are your plans for the weekend? If you haven't made any yet, why not take in some music? There's lots to choose from; small, intimate jazz clubs to grand venue symphonies. Whichever way you go, just make sure it's music to YOUR ears.
Happy listening!
