      The Frog's Blog

Hi friends. This blog is a labor of love and I want to continue writing every day for a long time to come. But I need a little help. The fees to maintain this website are getting costly for a little frog. If you enjoy reading my blogs, will you please donate a dollar or two, or whatever you can, to help me keep this site (and blog) up and running? I'm on PayPal at irwinquagmirewart@gmail.com. Thank you!

Tuesdays are terrific!

I love Tuesdays because most of the craziness that happens on Monday is over and I can get down to doing what I do best...and is write. Whenever I make public appearances at home in Land of Lily Pad, the question most often asked is, "How do you get your ideas for books?" The answer is easy, but not simple; the inspiration just comes to me. For example; when I started doing research for my trip to Paris, I noticed that there weren't many travel books out there for kids...and none for frogs! Since I had planned to take loads of pictures, I decided to take a journal and write down all about what I saw and learned each day. When I got home and saw all my wonderful photos and the detailed notes I'd made, it seemed like a good idea to put them all together in a book for other frogs, and human kids, to enjoy. That was the idea behind Irwin Quagmire Wart Travels to Paris, France.
The environment has always been a concern to me. As a frog, my very life depends on what happens to our planet. (It kinda does for humans, too.) So, the idea came to me, to write a fun and educational book on environmental stewardship for kids, so they could learn how to help future generations of humans, and animals, have a healthier world to live in. And that's how Green Is Good came to be.
I wanted to help my friends at My Little Python raise awareness about snakes and how much fun they can be to have as pets. Together, the Pythons and I co-wrote What About Snakes? and all the profits go to benefit ASP. Pretty cool, right?
When I was a tadpole, I spent a lot of time pretending I was a cowboy in the Old West. Dad heard about a place in Texas that had an authentic replica of a Pioneer Town. I decided to go and visit. My father had never been on an airplane before so I invited him to come along. He agreed to join me and we had an awesome time. When we got back home, my baby brother wanted to know all about our trip. As I showed him the photos and told him all we'd learned about the early settlers, it occurred to me that other kids might want to know this stuff, too, so I wrote Irwin Quagmire Wart Travels Back in Time. And that's how all my books (so far) have come to be!
